Grow! 2014

Special Announcement

We are well aware of the pending weather that is threatening some travel to GROW! this week. Weather is out of our control. Our advice to you is to try to get out on an earlier flight to get to Atlanta ahead of the storm if you are worried about this. We are beyond excited to share this incredible learning experience with you and will see you in Atlanta on Wednesday!

Breaking News – Now Announcing!

waldoOkay, no more secrets. Our special speaker for GROW! to close things out is Rob “Waldo” Waldman. Waldo is a decorated combat fighter pilot, who has been inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame and is the author of The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller Never Fly Solo. During his session, “Wingman Leadership,” you will learn how to be a better leader and take your business to a new altitude. In the true spirit of GROW!, Waldo is the type of speaker you will never see at a Green Industry event. His clients are the who’s who in American business and we are beyond fortunate to have this opportunity to learn from one of America’s brightest and best minds on leadership. Trust me, when I say this, this will be a life-changing experience!

We call it GROW! for a reason.

Join us and experience why.

Hello everyone, if you’re like most of the landscapers we work with, you’ve had a good year. IF you’re not doing so hot this year—and I’m not trying to rub it in—as a lot of my clients have had a GREAT year; you’re in the minority. The question becomes why? Why did they have a better year? Or why did you not have a great year! What did they do to achieve better results and better results year after year? Most importantly, what are YOU going to do THIS WINTER to make sure that 2014 is your BEST year ever? Well, I have an idea that will be no surprise to you at all. If you want to make 2014 your best year ever, then get your tail to Atlanta, Georgia, February 5-7 for GROW! Join me, my awesome teachers (all landscapers), and about 150 other landscapers as we spend 2+ days learning, talking, sharing, and exploring what it takes to be successful in the Green Industry. Many of you come back year after year, so I don’t feel a big need to sell you on why you should come, so here’s our power-packed agenda for the event.

Listen to Landscapers Who Experienced GROW!

Here’s what just a few of the hundreds of landscapers that have gone through my event in the last 15 years have to say about it.
John BradleyJohn Bradlee, Jr., J & J Yardcare, Inc., East Bridgewater, MA

“I had a VERY worthwhile experience this year at your 2011 GROW event. Not only was I exposed to a TON of great information but I was also able to meet lots of new people who are just as willing to learn as they are to help. I picked up so many things that will not only help me with my professional life but in my everyday personal life as well. I learned more from your three-day conference than I did in any of the business courses I took while in college. I think that says a lot about what you and your team have to offer.”

Kyle VanSice, Environmental Enhancements, Inc. Sterling, VA

“As cliché as this will sound, I came to Dayton scared to death about this year. I left Dayton full of confidence and with a set direction of where to go. Thank you so much for everything and I can’t wait to come back.”

Trey Giraldi, Swan Creek Landscaping, Perryville, MD

Trey GiraldiTrey Giraldi, Swan Creek Landscaping Inc., Perryville, MD

“Matt Caruso is a dynamic and enthusiastic speaker who is easy to learn from. He is a wealth of information and he breaks it down so everyone gets it. He has helped me take my business to the next level. Listen to him speak; you’ll be glad you did.”

Dan Bailey, Bailey’s Lawn and Landscape, Middletown, DE

“The support, direction, and knowledge Matt Caruso has offered my company, with planning and development, has been by far the best resource we have for building a successful, profitable, landscaping firm. He is a very positive speaker and mentor that empowers and propels you towards success in your business and personal life!”

Rob Garpiel II, Garpiel landscaping L.L.C., Saginaw, MI

Tim KeyTim Key, LCU Properties, Inc., Machesney Park, IL

“Thank you for your vision to teach and dedication to quality. This was probably the best event I have attended. The Quality and Caliber of every speaker was fantastic. The environment you create allows us to see the person behind the speaker and I love that. Thanks for your passion.”

Jason Jacobs, Ben-N-Dad’s Lawn Service, LLC, Coppell, TX

“Great group of people at GROW! All #1 in their field. Wealth of information that I do really thank you for. Thanks for VIP treatment. You really know how to host.”

Tim Egli, Egli Landscapes, Wayland, IA

John WingfieldJohn Wingfield, Jr., Eagle Landscape, Garland, TX

“I learned more about running my business in three days at GROW 2011 than I have learned in four years of business ownership and two years of business school. My head is spinning with the power of action. Attending GROW 2011 is going to have positive long lasting effects on my business. It is all about getting better.”

Michael Pecquet, StoneMakers of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH

Ken NagaoKen Nagao, Groundworks Landscape, Torrance, CA

“Just wanted to say thank you for a great program. It is always great to learn from people you admire and I have tremendous admiration for your company. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and I regret that it took so long to do so. Have a great season and I wish you well. Blessings to you and your family.”

Kris McKee, McKee Country Club Lawn & Landscaping, Kettering, OH

“I am sure you are going to get at least 100+ e-mails over the next few days from everyone thanking you…but I had to just let you know that this weekend was a ‘life changer’ for Lawn Plus. What a great experience! You have helped me in so many ways…and working with you and your team has really helped me to take Lawn Plus to the next level. Thanks!”

Rodney Creech, Lawn Plus, West Alexandria, OH

“I am so excited that we got to take part in the event and I think that it was worth every dollar of admission.”

Jason Crookshanks, Crookshanks Landscaping, Mentor, OH

Jarod HynsonJarod Hynson, Earth, Turf & Wood, Inc., Denver, PA

“GROW 2011 was incredible! Thank you very much for helping to keep us ‘engaged.’ I have always used the term ‘motivated,’ but ‘engaged’ is much more powerful, I’m going to steal it from you. As leaders, you know our attitudes are contagious, so we are going to infect everyone at TTI with what we learned at GROW.”

Bryan Anderson, Turf Tamer, Inc. Fort Payne, AL

“In 25 years of green industry involvement, I have never once come across a conference that delivers so much practical information. If you’re really serious about growing your company, I would beg, borrow, or steal the money needed and make this three-day commitment that will truly revolutionize the way you run your company.”

Jarod Hynson, Earth, Turf, & Wood Inc., Denver, PA

Here’s what they learned. Here’s what you will learn.

There are 3 specific things landscapers need to work on to improve and make 2014 their best year EVER! They are very simple. I keep things simple at Grunder Landscaping Co. and you should too!

  1. Hire more of the Right People
  2. Make more sales
  3. Be more efficient

If you improve your team and your company in these three areas, you will find SALES and PROFITS like you’ve never seen before. So, how do you do that? Well, I’m not going to tell you unless you come to GROW! I don’t give away my secrets for free.

Real value is worth the investment. There are no free passes in landscaping.

You know, we get at least 3 or 4 screwballs each month that call our office looking for free advice. Once in a while, we actually have landscapers that are downright mad that we won’t give them a form, or just write some ad copy for them, or tell them how to handle a poor performer. I charge for my knowledge and experience and you should too! One time a knucklehead from Texas called to say that he would help me if I helped him. Always intrigued, I asked him how he was going to help me and he went on to tell me about Amway! Are you serious?! I don’t have time for Amway. I’m trying to run a landscaping company. That means keeping my focus on that and sharing the better practices I have learned in running a landscaping business with other landscapers.

My job at both my companies is to INSPIRE LANDSCAPERS! INSPIRE GROWTH!

There is no get rich quick scheme, folks. And why in the world would a landscaper invest in something other than his business? The best investment you can make is always in yourself.

“The man who puts $10,000 of additional capital into an established business is pretty certain of increased returns. In the same way, the man who puts additional capital into his brains – information, well-directed thought and study of possibilities – even more surely will get increased returns.”
— Marshall Field, merchant

The Top Ten Reasons You Should Join Me in Atlanta for GROW! 2014.

  1. GROW! offers the best opportunity for landscapers to learn ways to expand their businesses and a whole lot more. (You simply can’t learn this information anywhere else; trust us on this.)
  2. This event is in its 15th successful year. We know what we are doing—it’s a big idea that gets bigger every year. In fact, hundreds of landscapers will tell you our event is an incredible way to start the year off right.
  3. HighGrove Partners is the market leader in ATLANTA for landscape maintenance. They are an incredible operation; you’ll get an inside, confidential look at this company that has been featured in Lawn and Landscape Magazine and many other publications. Their CEO, Jim McCutcheon, is one of the brightest and most respected minds in the Green Industry.

  4. Scott Fay. Who is he? I bet you’ve never heard of him. You will know who he is after he rocks the house on Friday. He’s the man that took Treasure Coast Irrigation and Rood Landscape to the next level. They are a $13M/year monster on the east coast of Florida. I have a reputation for finding talent and Scott is a gem you’ll want to discover for yourself. He’s Dr. John Maxwell’s Landscaper too; that ought to count for something.

  5. JJ, Lee, Benton. These 3 guys are our VIP Captains. These GROW! graduates help me teach. My best students get to teach and these three are people you will not only get to listen to, but you’ll also have plenty of time to spend with them personally. You will develop valuable friendships with the VIPs and others that are sure to help your business grow.

You may pick which captain you want, first-come, first-served.

  6. ATLANTA. Yep, Atlanta. The Embassy Suites where we are holding the event is a top notch, first class hotel. It’s not the usual type of place landscapers hold events in. But then again, this isn’t your normal event. You’ll be right downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. There are all sorts of places to go out and enjoy with other landscapers at night. And hopefully, if you stay around Atlanta for the weekend, you will find plenty of exciting places you’ll want to explore on Saturday and Sunday. Remember, this trip is tax deductible!
  7. 150 other landscapers. Yep, that’s a big reason to attend. While I know we’ve assembled a great cast of teachers, you will learn a tremendous amount from each other as you share experiences. So, get to GROW! so you can renew old friendships and make some new ones.
  8. Matt Caruso. Matt is so good, he gets his own listing here. When he speaks, I just sit back and listen. And you should too. Matt CarusoMatt is a genius. He’s the first person I call, when I need help in my own business or need someone to talk to about an issue. He came to GROW! in 1996 and I was so impressed with him, I asked him to join my team. Today, Matt manages his own ACE Group, an accountability group for landscapers, and helps me with another one. Here’s his company’s website. Matt is a gifted landscaper and an even better teacher and an even better father and husband. There is a lot to learn from Matt, spending time with him is a blessing for all of us who want to get better. It’s as simple as that!
  9. We offer incredible and immediately useful information on how to hire better, how to sell more, and how to be more efficient. Mike RorieI have customized all the lessons for this unique event based on what I have experienced in my own business and the issues that I know landscapers have. I would humbly argue that no one, I mean no one, in the Green Industry, has a better handle on what landscapers need to know to be successful. And, I would argue that no one could teach that better than I can. Here’s what Industry Icon Mike Rorie says about GROW!: “I had the good fortune last February to both present and participate in the GROW! Conference. Wow, what a blast of energy, education and fun! I just hope Marty and the gang will have me back again soon. No landscaper should miss this event.”
  10. Isn’t it time you made an investment in yourself? Think about all the stupid things you put money into: Gourmet Coffee at $5/cup, Chrome Wheels for your truck, that new piece of technology that really doesn’t help you make more money, the seminar that was local, but didn’t show you a thing you didn’t already know, or the money you wasted on that so-called “consultant” who came in with big promises and delivered not much of anything, other than a big bill.

How can I make a promise like that? I can make that promise because I know what I’m doing and I have a history of inspiring landscapers and inspiring growth.

Get to Atlanta. Sign up now before the price goes up. December 30th the price goes up $200/person and $100 for VIP. Don’t run the risk of not being able to attend, because given that we are touring HighGrove Partners, we expect a complete sell out. Dilly-dally if you want but, we would hate to have to tell you can’t come because we’re sold out.

Think about this:
“Procrastination is the language of the poor.”
—Victor Kiam

…And my personal all-time favorite quote: “Good things come to those who wait, but only the things left behind by those who did not.”

See you in ATLANTA.

Marty Grunder!

PS – Still undecided? Sheesh, then call me right now at 1-866-GRUNDER; I will talk to you personally. There is no logical reason not to attend GROW! Other than you are pregnant or your wife is pregnant. So, call me, we’ll chat. Yes, I will talk to you; I’m not a celebrity; I am a landscaper with a family, just like you!
