What is the one thing that all the contestants have in the game? The answers…right! What is the one thing they need to do in order to win the prize? Ask the right question…right! It is my belief that the game of Jeopardy is like the game of life. If you think about it, we have all the answers too. We need to, just like the contestants in the game need to, ask the right question. We need to be continually asking questions.
“The uncreative mind can spot wrong answers, but it takes a creative mind to spot wrong questions.”
Too many times we don’t ask enough questions or, more importantly, the right questions, and we paint a picture for ourselves that may not be very realistic and off we go. We start taking action on our thoughts not realizing all the consequences that may be associated with those actions, ultimately setting ourselves up for failure. We need to get outside of our comfort zone. We need to think outside of the box. We need not lose sight of the ultimate and become a slave to the immediate. Too many of us get caught up in the everyday grind, the rat race, and are just out there doing it, doing it and doing it some more.
We need to look back upon the journey we’ve taken to get to the point we are in our lives currently and reflect. What could we have done differently? What are we doing now that, most definitely, won’t take us to where we are going? Who is not with me now who needs to be in order to get to the next level? Etc. Etc. Etc. If you keep asking the questions, I guarantee you will find the answers. If the answers you find should happen to be the ones you don’t want, ask a different question. The point being…don’t stop asking questions. If you do, you can’t continue to move forward.
“You’ve got to think about “big things’ while you’re doing small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction.”
